Madame Web is an upcoming film of Sony’s Spiderman Verse(SSU). It’s supposed to be the fifth movie of the SSU. The preceding movies include Venom, Venom: Let There be Carnage, Morbius, and Kraken the Hunter, which will be released in 2023. In the comics, the character is a clairvoyant who first showed up to help Spiderman and find a kidnapped victim.

Sony Delays Madame Web

Sony has released a number of updated releases for its upcoming including dates for Insidious 5 and its upcoming collaboration with Marvel. The studio pushed the release date of the film from Summer 2023 to Fall 2023. 2023 will be witnessing 3 movies from Sony with Marvel’s collaboration, namely, Kraken the Hunter, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and  Madame Web, all releasing at different points in the year.

Fans are worried due to the Shift in Release Dates

Sony, shifting the release date of Madame Web, has left fans worried about the movie’s success. They are worried that the movie does not pull a Morbius all over again. Morbius is the 3rd in SSU and based on the Marvel comics and the character of the same name. The movie was to be released in July 2020 but, its release date has been pushed forward again and again due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When the movie actually hit the theatres on April 10, 2022, fans criticized the visuals and bad writing. It received bad reviews from all over the world.

And with now, the movie seeing the same delay in its release. Fans are concerned that this movie also does not get butchered like Morbius.  Some other fans have speculated that they are trying to avoid Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning release so that the movie does well.

Either way, let’s hope they don’t butcher the movie. Dakota Johnson will be the main lead and play the role of Madame Web herself.
