The last days of October saw Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady finalizing their divorce after months of separation and altercations. The two had been married for over 13 years and shared 2 kids. While the actual reason wasn’t officially shared by the former NFL power couple, speculations suggest that the most probable reason was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback’s ‘unretiring’.

Looking back there were signs in the way that the former Victoria’s Secret Angel described her marriage. She had shared in interviews how it takes a lot of work to keep the institution of marriage afloat. It seems she ran out of energy to put further effort into the relationship.

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady’s fairy tale beginnings

A fairytale wedding

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady had the quintessential rom-com meet cute. They met each other on a blind date after having recently ended a long-term relationship. And both of them later claimed to be absolutely smitten by the other at first sight.

The 7-time Super Bowl winner, in conversation with Howard Stern, had confessed, “When she walked in I just thought she was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”

Brady’s impression on the Brazilian supermodel wasn’t too different either. She described it as, “You know that feeling of, like, you can’t get enough? From the first day we met, we’ve never spent one day without speaking to each other.”

Although the fairy-tale start met an early roadblock when Brady’s ex-girlfriend, Bridget Moynahan shared that she was expecting his child, the lovers worked through it and emerged stronger for it. Eventually, they went on to get married, have kids, and start a family of their own.

A successful relationship does not “just happen”

Couldn’t make it work

Unlike a Hollywood chick flick, it wasn’t happily ever after for the star couple. Bundchen had talked to Page Six about her relationship and marriages, in general, a few months ago, and one can clearly read between the lines to find problems that eventually led to the couple’s split. The supermodel claimed that a successful marriage doesn’t “just happen”.

“It’s never the fairy tale people want to believe it is. It takes work to be really in sync with someone, especially after you have kids.”

That is indeed a realistic statement coming from someone who had gone through a lot of ups and downs in her life. Bundchen used to be the highest-paid model in the world at a time, but she let her career take a backseat for the sake of her family. And apparently, Brady noticed her efforts and sacrifices as well, “She hasn’t worked much in the last 10, 12 years while raising our family.” Brady does sound grateful here but yet he went back on his word to dedicate his time to his family when he chose to ‘unretire’ and go back on the field. And clearly, the missus’ pot of patience reached its rim.
