Jason Momoa revealed in an interview that he did not want to play the role initially but Zack insisted he plays the role of Aquaman. The Aquaman star was not interested in the audition at first but went later when his agent insisted.

“Zack called me in to do a kind of a generic general audition for batman but I knew I would not be playing Batman. I just kind of said no I wasn’t going to go into my agents call me again like you need to go and Zack wants to see you. I went in and then I just played that audition completely opposite of what I was which is what you’re supposed to play. I kind of pretended like batman was killed and he was in an alleyway. I just picked up the suit and played it. However, I wanted to play Aquaman and so that’s when they said so then he called me back in his office and he goes you know why you’re here and I’m like I got no idea except because then ben had been cast and henry and obviously we knew wonder woman so I kind of I figured I was gonna play the bad guy and he’s like I want you to play Aquaman”
