Todd Phillips’s Joker certainly doesn’t fall in the category of common comic book movies. It was even suggested by Phillips that his Joker might not even be batman’s arch enemy! But that’s not this movie’s only deviation from the norm. Joker also doesn’t have any end credits scenes. But Phillips has revealed that Joaquin Phoenix who plays the titular character in the movie had some hilarious ideas for one.

Phillips spoke to GamesRadar and revealed why he didn’t want Joker to contain any type of post-credit scenes. He explained that:

“The idea of a post-credits scene in this movie would seem wrong, and a little too light for me. That wouldn’t have been something we did. But Joaquin said it would be funny to put bloopers alongside the names like they did in the old days.”

The idea that Phoenix had- of adding bloopers over the credits was once a very popular practise. But it worked with movies which dealt with lighter subject matter. Phillip’s movie is way darker, with some even suggesting that it was fully an hallucination. So bloopers might have ruined the atmosphere of the movie and of the movie going audience. Yet, the lack of any post credits scenes makes Joker one of the very few modern comic book movies which has avoided that trope. Maybe we will be able to see a post credit scene in the Joker sequel which is in talks? We certainly hope so.

Joker is directed by Todd Phillips and stars Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro and Zazie Beetz amongst others. The movie is in theaters now.
