Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s marriage was nothing to write home about. The couple, who married each other in 2014, had begun to show signs of distrust and faultlines in the relationship for the last few years. And soon, the efforts to conceal the differences between them came to a halt.

They differed on a lot of points in the course of their 7-year-long marriage, some major, some minor. Be it how the reality star should dress, to major life decisions like where should their kids go to school.

Kanye West founded his own educational institute named Donda Academy. The academy was established in 2021 and was named after the Yeezy founder’s late mother. Established in Simi Valley, California, in August, the school focuses on kids’ education. It adopts a new approach to educating its kids, and wants to raise “innovators, influencers, and academics”. Fostering an environment that promotes sports is also at the center of the school’s policy.

This was what the Praise God rapper envisioned.

Jason Angell, the principal of the school, was entrusted with the job of enforcing the Donda rapper’s vision. And it was smooth sailing for the school. Until the founder of the school went berserk. Following West’s anti-semitic remarks, the school began to face a lot of heat for his actions. The backlash was so fierce, that the school had to send out an e-mail to all parents, which declared that the school would be closed for the remainder of the 2022-23 school year.

The closing of the Academy came as a shock to parents. The principal sent out a mail,

“At the discretion of our founder, Donda Academy will close for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year effective immediately. There is no school [Thursday].”

The school, introduced with lofty claims (and a lofty tuition fee of $15,000), has failed to deliver. And the shutting down of school for this academic year doesn’t bode well for its future and must have a lot of parents worried.

But there must be one parent, who would be smiling. That is Kim Kardashian.

When the Hip-Hop icon established Donda Academy, he wanted to see his own kids be a part of the school. The 45-year-old and the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star have four children – North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3.

Kim Kardashian did not bend; stands vindicated

West’s failure to get his children admitted to his school weighed down on his mind. It is no secret that he and the SKIMS founder slugged it out on this issue as well. But the answer was always no. But that was not an option for him. When the reality star asked about the kids’ current school, he proposed the idea that they could go to their current private school for three days a week. They would spend the other two days at Donda Academy. But his lobbying had no impact. In the end, the kids stayed where they were.

With the academy closed after the recent controversy, the SKKN founder stands vindicated. The custody battle may not yet be over, but she has already proved that she can make the right decisions when it comes to her kids.
