I was pissed. I was pissed that it wasn’t Jon Snow killing the Night King. I would’ve given you…I’d have bet you thousands. Before I read the finals, I was like yeah, it’s definitely me. And then they lead you on, Jon’s chasing the Night King – Kit Harington

Jon during the battle
Jon Snow during the Battle of Winterfell

The launch of the previous episode of Game of Thrones did end a huge threat on the Throne. The longest running (82 minutes) episode of the series ‘The long night’ depicts the Battle of Winterfell, most dangerous battle fought in the history of battles, the battle between the living and the dead. The title had its reference from the prolonged winters which transpired thousands of year ago.

Arya Was The One To Kill The Night King

That episode portrayed a totally new side of  Arya Stark. Not even the most obsessed fan of Game of Thrones could have predicted that end of the Battle of Winterfell! It was Arya Stark, not Jon Snow who killed the Night King and defeated the army of dead. Her emerging as an extreme warrior received a quite diversified response from the audience. Which of course is a controversial topic, because people were not really prepared for her to be the game changer. Arya’s heroic response to the Battle of Winterfell gave her an extremely new personality whereas people were expecting Jon to do some miracle by putting the Night King down.

Let’s see what Kit Harington has to say about it!

During one of the interviews of Kit Harington in  Entertainment Weekly, he accepted not being that satisfied with the sudden change of plot. Jon’s role in defending his reign was restricted to the air only. His confinement to the dragon didn’t make it possible for him to defend Winterfell. According to him, he deserved a bit better than just riding a dragon.

I was slightly pissed off I was on a dragon, it stops me from fighting in a crowd. It’s going to look cool but I wanted, in some ways — just as Jon does — to get back down on the ground. The fact he can fly a dragon means he has to but his place is down there amongst the sword swingers. But that whole episode should be mesmerizing.

Despite all the differences between Kit Harington and the show, Kit claims the next episode of Game of Thrones to be his favourite one.
