Kylie Jenner is known all over the world for her cosmetic beauty brand, Kylie Cosmetics. The star has made millions of dollars by selling several makeup products to her fans. The star’s major platform for marketing her brand has always been Instagram, and it is safe to say that she was the pioneer of the social media influencer business model. She successfully turned her fans into potential buyers and has managed to make a name for herself in the industry through her business. However, it seems like her empire might be dwindling.
Kylie Jenner was called out by Forbes for forging tax documents
Back in 2019, the star was famously given the title of “the youngest self-made billionaire” by Forbes. However, the term ‘self-made’ was contested by many who believed that the star’s success is a result of her family’s name and influence. Moreover, Forbes also took away the title from the star after they discovered that the star had lied about her earnings and had overly exaggerated her success. Forbes stated,
“Kylie’s business is significantly smaller, and less profitable, than the family has spent years leading the cosmetics industry and media outlets, including Forbes, to believe.”

At the time, the KUWTK star was unbothered by the criticism and stated in a tweet,
“I can name a list of 100 things more important right now than fixating on how much money I have.”
Kylie Jenner’s brand has not evolved in the seven years of its run
However, it seems that now the star’s business might be crumbling since there have been reports that the people’s interest in her products has significantly decreased over time. This is mainly because the brand has not evolved much in the seven years of its reign. The star has introduced vegan formulas and clean ingredients, but the brand still hasn’t been able to keep up, especially since many other celebrities such as Rihanna, Selena Gomez, and Millie Bobby Brown are also running their brands now.
Kylie Jenner’s declining public image is the reason behind the brand’s downfall
Even though the brand has expanded to multiple countries around the world, people are not much interested in buying the products anymore. Moreover, searches for her products have also declined by a staggering 80%. Perhaps, one of the reasons behind the decline in the brand’s popularity is that it is closely linked to the star’s public image, which has also been on the decline lately.
The star was termed as a ‘climate criminal’ recently and such a title could potentially turn consumers away from buying her products. Moreover, her recent Instagram pictures where she was in the lab touching products without following the hygiene protocols could also be a contributing factor to the consumer’s lack of trust in the brand.
