Simu Liu, who is also expected to be in the movie, created a lot of hype for the movie in an interview with GQ UK in May. He said a junior agent pushed him to accept the role because of how well the script was written. “He was like, ‘If I could stake my career on any one script, it’s the ‘Barbie’ script. I really think you should do it,'” he said.
Similarly, Margot Robbie told The Hollywood Reporter in December that the film is nothing that fans will expect. She said ” ‘Oh, Margot is playing Barbie, I know what that is,'” but our goal is to be like, ‘Whatever you’re thinking, we’re going to give you something totally different — the thing you didn’t know you wanted,'” In April, Warner Bros. Pictures shared the first look picture of Margot Robbie, in Barbie’s signature convertible.
Barbie is set to hit the theatres in 2023
Barbie is scheduled to hit the theatres on July 21, 2023, and Margot Robbie is going to star in the live-action as the titular character Barbie. According to Variety and New York Times reporter Kyle Buchanan, Ryan Gosling is rumored to be “one of many Ken dolls” in the upcoming movie.
