Johnny Depp’s exit from the Fantastic Beast franchise is indeed unfair and fans would surely miss him playing Gellert Grindelwald. While that is in no way possible anymore, we should talk more about what we got. With that being said, it is Mads Mikkelsen who is finally going to portray Grindelwald the dark wizard in the upcoming spin-off of Harry Potter. Well, it looks like he will do justice to what Depp left behind. Here are the 5 reasons why –
Mikkelsen Looks A Deadly Sinister Villain
He perhaps looks like an intimidating villain who could easily portray a character beyond the requirement. In fact, Mikkelsen has played somewhat of a similar character in Casino Royale as well. Now, with a talent like that and a face that looks insanely scary, he’d easily portray the prompt that he’s evil. As a result, he’d manage to capture the sinister vibes efficiently.
Mikkelsen Has Already Played A Serial Killer
Yes, the famous actor has once played a cannibalistic serial killer on screen. Thus, it won’t be any difficult for him to portray a dark wizard anyway. The character that Mikkelsen portrayed was about a person who eats people and offered everyone the creeps. Now just imagine how this maniac-type-of role will go with the dark wizard’s clothes and make-up.
He Is The Only One Who Could Do Justice To The Dark Wizard
If we talk about fans, they will also choose Johnny Depp as a prominent actor to portray Grindelwald on screen. But now that he is no more there in the franchise, Mads seems like the only actor who could do justice to such a complex role. With that being said, Mads Mikkelsen has done quite a lot of films, out of which many had their success because of the actor’s name. In fact, the actor has a lot of on-screen experience playing the villain. He has depicted some of the greatest villains in movies like Doctor Strange and Casino Royale. Thus, he’d do great things in the upcoming Harry Potter spin-off as well.
There Is Somewhat A Similarity Between Grindelwald And Mads’ Character From Doctor Strange
While Grindelwald is all about a wizard who wants to change the system by rebelling, Kaecilius from Doctor Strange was a master of mystic arts who wanted to rebel against the Ancient One. Somewhat similar, right? With that being said, it’d be quite safe to echo loud that a majority of fans have seen Mads playing Kaecilius in 2016’s Doctor Strange and he somewhat resembles Mads’ upcoming Dark Wizard role. As a result, it will be also safe to assume that Mads will manage to bring up the same charm for Grindelwald on screen as he did for Kaecilius back then in 2016.
Mads Has Got A Good Range
The actor, as echoed earlier in this article, has been there for quite some time and perhaps that’s why he knows his game pretty well, just like Depp. Not an assumption, but Mads has proven his worth as an actor quite many times by taking characters that were beyond his limits. When such an immense amount of range in terms of craft is available, there isn’t any doubt but the only question is: how well is he going to portray the role of Grindelwald on screen?
