Chris Evans’ journey as Captain America in the MCU may have come to a halt, but fans are still enthusiastic about finding connections between the Star-Spangled hero and his imprints on the larger Marvel Universe. One particular fan on Reddit has gone all the way to form a theory and attempt to decode the secret ingredient of the Super Soldier Formula created by Dr Erskine.

The Super Soldier Serum’s Secret Ingredient

The formula helped transform Steve Rogers into Captain America, unlike all the other attempts that resulted in failures. According to the Reddit theory, a key factor that makes the serum functional can be found with Mjolnir’s history and its link to Thor. The hammer only works with those who are deemed worthy, and its relevance is shared in the theory. Check it out below:

Odin cast a spell on Mjolnir that enabled only those who were worthy could be able to use it, which included Thor

The theory introduces how Erskine first created the serum. It was Johann Schmidt who was the first user of the serum, but it eventually backfired and resulted in him being the Red Skull. Schmidt was devoted to learning about the mythology of the ancient world – especially Nordic history that had ties with the Asgardian presence on Earth. The theory claims that Asgardian magic may just be an advanced form of science, which Erskine figured out and implemented an equivalent into the Super Soldier Serum. It may have been intended to work as a failsafe.

Red Skull Not Worthy Enough For The Serum

The Red Skull was the antagonist in Captain America: The First Avenger, and was also the keeper of the Soul Stone in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame

The theory suggests that the reason Erskine spoke with such importance about the serum and its functioning on the right individual. Erskine talks about the serum accordingly: “I am looking for qualities beyond the physical,” implying that, in alignment with the theory, worthiness was the key to unlocking the true power of the serum. The theory is further proved with the example of the Red Skull, which Erskine explained, went wrong because” The serum was not ready. But more importantly, the man.”
