David Hayter, a voice actor, and screenwriter who has previously worked on Fox’s X-Men films, has revealed during a recent appearance at a convention that Marvel is all set to reboot Daredevil. It’s still unclear if he’s talking about a movie or a TV show, but for now, a TV series more likely, as he expressed his own admiration and praises for how the Daredevil property was handled by Marvel and Netflix before, as there aren’t too many Marvel fans out there praising Ben Affleck’s Daredevil which came in 2003. Unless the comparison is between Elektra spin-off that came as a result, in which case Daredevil looks really better, but that’s just the kind of faint praise.

This was mentioned by Hayter to Small Screen while appearing at MCM London Comic-Con. Hayter was even asked what project he’d like to work on if he had Carte Blanche, Hayter stated the Daredevil project, which hints that he probably thought that it was a widely known thing, and not that he was breaking something new.

“They’re doing a reboot of Daredevil, and Daredevil was always a very important character to me,” Hayter answered. “I loved the first way they did it, but there are certain things that I would want to adapt from the Frank Miller run on Daredevil that really meant a lot to me. That’s really the one.”

With a long history with comic book projects, Hayter has written two X-Men films, which include the very first two, as well as the screenplay of Watchmen by Zack Snyder. He has also appeared in the Arrowverse, giving his voice to King Shark.

Daredevil stalled after a disastrous 2003 movie starring Ben Affleck and later the Elektra follow-up which starred Jennifer Garner. The rights of the character soon stalled and it returned to Marvel, however, filmmaker Joe Carnahan had more plans for a Daredevil trilogy to follow up, but it failed to start filming as Disney got the character back.

A series was launched by Netflix and Marvel in 2015, which went on till 2018. Charlie Cox played the lead role of Matt Murdock and became a hit among fans instantly. Ever since the show has ended, fans have lobbied to get it back, even filing petitions, begging the Marvel Cinematic Universe to take him as Daredevil in a film like No Way Home.
