Marvel’s Loki: A Sneak Peek Into Ravonna Renslayer’s Journey And Her Link To Kang

Loki introduced a primary character, Judge Renslayer. But who is Ravonna Renslayer in Marvel Comics and what are her links with Kang the Conqueror?

Who Is Ravonna Renslayer?

In Marvel’s first animated series, Loki, Judge Ravonna Renslayer works as an agent with the TVA (Time Variance Authority), an association that is responsible for controlling and maintaining the flow of time. The character in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) is played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw. But the comic version of this character has a vast history that lays her foundation as a prominent one. Essentially, Renslayer’s comic history links her with Kang, the multiverse hopping and time-traveling villain. Kang the Conqueror appears in the season finale of Marvel and Disney+ Loki, played by Jonathan Majors. With that said, Kang is going to become one of the largest parts of the MCU Phase 4 and even beyond.

Throughout season 1 of Loki, Ravonna Renslayer as a character has been very divisive and memorable. While the character played a friend to Mobius, the late revelations about her and the Time Keepers molded Renslayer very differently. Some flashbacks highlighted her callousness in following the Time Variance Authority’s rules and regulations as she has worked as an agent to prune even child variants such as Sylvie.

In Marvel Comics, Renslayer is best known for being the love interest of Kang the Conqueror. While that angle didn’t even have a slight hint in the Marvel and Disney+ series, Loki, the season 2 of the Disney+ show might bring it on screen. With that said, here is everything that one needs to know about Ravonna Renslayer –

Ravonna Renslayer’s Powers and Origin

The character was first introduced in 1965’s Avengers #23. Being born in the late 40th century, she was a daughter to King Carelius. While Renslayer never had any superpowers, she is very intelligent and skilled in combat fights. Additionally, Ravonna is very much proficient with the advanced future technology and its usage. Thus, she used a teleporter to detect energy radiations and somehow managed to travel through time.

Renslayer once even went after the Avengers and the Fantastic Four, who tried to stop her from activating the Ultimate Nullifier. At that moment, Ravonna wanted to destroy Kang the Conqueror. On some other day, she was willing to defeat the Avengers. She is passionate, relentless, and incredibly capable. No matter what she is up to, Ravonna Renslayer has always proved how clever she is to become both an ally and a foe.

Renslayer first met Kang when she was attempting to conquer her kingdom in the 40th century. It has been long that Kang the Conqueror’s love for Ravonna has been one-sided. When the Avengers came to fight Kang, it was Ravonna Renslayer who joined them to stop him. Due to his love for Renslayer, Kang rebeled against his plans, considering the fact he can’t kill while seizing control.

With that said, Loki season 1 saw Ravonna Renslayer escaping through a time door but it is highly expected that she’ll return in season 2. But the question is – when, where, and how?
