The trans-children organization, Mermaids is under scrutiny due to the allegations of giving chest-flattening bandages to young girls. The Charity Commission is concerned about the same after a report by Telegraph claimed that the charity was giving out medical advice on puberty blockers without the relevant training.

Rowling, who also runs a charity for children, shared the report by the outlet which claimed that Mermaids distributed chest-flattening devices without the permission of the children’s guardian/parents.

The author’s response came after Observer columnist Sonia Sodha stated, “There are a lot of people in the NHS and in government who should feel deeply ashamed of their role in this.”

Rowling agreed and added, “Not to mention corporations and celebrities who’ve been cheering Mermaids on without doing the slightest bit of due diligence.”

According to an investigation by Daily Telegraph, they offered to provide a free binder to a minor trans boy (an adult pretending to be a young child) after they had become “a member of the charity’s online Youth Forum for a month and posted three times.”

Moreover, the charity offered them the binder even when the minor mentioned that their parents are against the idea. Not just that, children between the ages of 13 and 14 were told that the hormone-blocking drugs are safe and fully reversible to “give adolescents more time to explore their options”.

According to the reports, usage of these binders can cause serious health problems such as breathing difficulties, chronic back pain, br***tfeeding difficulties, and the possibility of puncturing a lung or breaking ribs.
