The Marvel movies are well-liked around the world, and they consistently perform well at the box office and in critics’ polls. The Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s weak point, though, is its villains. They’re neither particularly good nor particularly intriguing. With so many films under their belt, it’s become a common joke that Marvel’s villains are underwhelming. Of course, they try to compensate for it in the protagonist department, but it doesn’t eliminate the possibility of developing an intriguing Marvel villain. Have a quick look at the ‘Most Ancient Marvel Villains, Ranked’.

6. Thor: Ranganork – Hela

Thor: Ragnarok - Hela - Villains
Hela

She can conjure blades, crushes Mjolnir, has a pet wolf, and looks great doing it all. Hela makes Loki appear docile, and she radiates wickedness. She controls every moment she’s on-screen, and it’s a pity we won’t be seeing her anymore.

5. Thor: Ragnarok – Surtur

Surtur
Surtur

Surtur was a nasty, ruthless, apathetic, merciless, and wicked character who would imprison and execute everyone who got in his way. He was the epitome of destruction, with the prophecy expressly naming him as the one who would bring the prophecy to completion; he had utilized his superpowers against his foes and had no qualms about destroying anything in his way.

4. Thor: The Dark World – Malekith

Malekith

The Malekith character from Walt Simonson’s classic Thor comics is one of the most well-known among fans, but it just did not adapt to this rendition of the persona on the big screen. We’re just told via narration that he has a historical grudge against Odin’s father, and then for the majority of the movie, he’s simply nasty with no clear plan.

3. Guardians of The Galaxy – Ego

You know it’s going to be good when Kurt Russell plays the villain. Even if you don’t like the movie, Ego is undoubtedly one of the finest we’ve seen so far. He’s a whole planet named Ego.

2. Avengers: Infinity War – Thanos

We all understood Thanos was serious when we witnessed him flatten the Hulk. He then retired and prepared soup after wiping out half of the world with a snap of his fingers. What a nice young man he is. Apart from the jokes, his intentions don’t really hold up under investigation, but he’s exactly the evil we all anticipated him to be. It’ll be difficult to live up to him, and we’re excited to see what the MCU has in hand for us.

1. X-Men – Apocalypse

Apocalypse was an entirely new type of villain in the X-Men universe. His abilities were vast and uncountable, and his enigmatic reputation only added to his all-powerful appearance.
