For the cast of Friends, appearing on the show was undoubtedly a career-changing experience. Given the chemistry and the immense fame of the main cast, it was often extremely nerve-wracking for the other actors doing the small roles. Back in 2021, The Howard Stern Show podcast featured Jennifer Aniston, one of the longest-running television actors.

She participated in a panel discussion with Howard Stern, reflected on her upbringing, successful show business careers, and a Friends reunion special. She was accompanied by her co-stars, Courteney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow.

They talked openly about the special bond they developed on the set in 1994, a bond that has only gotten stronger over time. During the discussion, the Murder Mystery 2 actress disclosed that there was a guest actor who was difficult to work with on set. Fans all over the world were extremely curious to know who it was, even after she revealed that the person later apologized.

In fact, Stern questioned whether the offender was that guest actor who portrayed Dr. Richard Burke for 10 episodes. Yes, Friends’ fans may have guessed it right. The actress revealed, “It was Tom [Selleck]. You just don’t know how cruel and unusual he is.”

Fans of the Blue Bloods star shouldn’t need to worry, though. She was only kidding!

Jennifer Aniston Praised Tom Selleck

Tom Selleck received a lot of praise from his co-star, Jennifer Aniston behind the scenes. She praised her co-star and how he treated other cast members during their appearance on the sitcom with Howard Stern. Selleck, as many people are aware, made a brief appearance at the Friends reunion and was even warmly welcomed.

That makes sense, particularly given that fans were treated to a mini-Friends reunion in 2018 after a video of the 78-year-old actor and Courteney Cox embracing him in a New York City restaurant went viral. While working with The Movie Murderer actor, Aniston remarked, “Tom has an angel’s halo over his head, it’s just a permanent halo over Tom’s head.”

Even Cox referred to Selleck as the best boyfriend she had while working on the show during her interview with Hot Ones. “Well, Tom Selleck was the nicest, and the tallest. Jon Favreau is the best director, [but] he wasn’t directing then.”

There was definitely a good vibe on the Friends set. But Jennifer Aniston wasn’t praising every guest star; in fact, she had the exact opposite opinion of one who appeared in one of the earlier seasons. Any guesses?

She Wasn’t Always Complimenting the Guest Stars

Jennifer Aniston mentioned a specific guest star during an interview with Howard Stern, describing how they felt superior to the show in the first few seasons before Friends became incredibly well-known.

When performing a network run-through, the 54-year-old actress recalled, “I remember when we were doing a network run-through, the network and the producers would just laugh. And this person would be like, ‘Listen to them, just laughing at their own jokes. So stupid, not even funny.'”

Aniston was making a reference to Fisher Stevens.

The actor, who later responded to Aniston’s claims, did not refute them. Stevens has later admitted that the change to his script just before filming, which made it less appealing than the original, caused his mood to deteriorate. “Because that’s what sitcoms did,” he said. “And I didn’t know that. I was kind of an a******, I have to admit.”

It comes as no surprise that after his brief cameo, he wasn’t invited back to the program.
