The actress, who is 27, will be playing an undisclosed role in All of Us Are Dead, but is certainly confirmed to be making an appearance in the series when it finally releases this month, ie. January 28th, 2022. Her role has been made official by Lee Yoo-Mi on her Instagram handle.

All of Us Are Dead will focus on a group of high school students thrown into a zombie apocalypse after a science experiment goes absolutely wrong. It is based on the webtoon Now at Our School, which was published on NAVER Webtoon in the year 2009. The teaser for the series promises a lot of horror, thrill, and a lot of gore. Obviously, Lee Yoo-Mi is not a stranger to playing such roles that focus on quite dramatic life-or-death situations.

Lee Yoo-Mi’s character in Squid Game as Ji-Yeong, also known as Player 240, was nothing short of a tragedy for fans of the series. She initially appears in the third round of the games that pits its players against one other for the prize of abundant wealth for one winner. Working alongside Seong Gi-hun and Cho Sang-woo’s team in a game of tug-a-war, Ji-yeong went on to successfully move on in the Games. Ji-yeong came to the closest with Kang Sae-byeok, who happens to be a North Korean native. Ji-yeong picked Kang Sae-byeok as her partner for the game in the fourth round of Marbles. While the players had no clue, the game would pit the them against one another, with a single winner declared within 30 minutes.

The two spend the majority of the game talking and then finally decide the winner to end it with a quick round in the last few minutes. Kang Sae-byeok and Ji-yeong exchange stories of their personal traumas that they had faced outside Squid Games alongside their reasons for being present there in the first place. Reaching a decision that Kang Sae-byeok has a lot more to live for, Ji-yeong makes the sacrfice to forfeit the game, thereby allowing Kang Sae-byeok to win in the final minutes. Ji-yeong’s final words and perhaps one of the most recognizable quote in the series, translate to English as “Thanks for playing with me,” which are uttered right before she is shot dead.

Given Lee Yoo-Mi’s heart-wrenching role in Squid Game, it’s quite possible that she might play a similar character in All of Us Are Dead, which will also feature a lot of death (as the title suggests.) All of Us Are Dead‘s first season is set to have 8 episodes, and Netflix will be certainly eyeing the performance of the show to determine if it will go on to be renewed for another season. With the various successes enjoyed by Netflix’s Korean dramas recently, combined with the source material being rated quite highly by fans, All of Us Are Dead has a lot of potential to make a positive impact on viewers and Netflix.
