While appearing in a recent appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Andrew Garfield acknowledged the various actions that he had to take to preserve his Spider-Man secret before the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home last month. It looks like the 38-year-old actor had to reveal a lot of lies to many fans and people, including his Spider-Man co-star Emma Stone.

“Emma kept on texting me and she was like, ‘Are you in this new Spider-Man film?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about!’ She was like, ‘Shut up, just tell me.’ And like, I honestly… I kept it going, even with her, it’s hilarious,” Garfield said, finally opening up about his long-kept secret. “And then she saw it and she was like, ‘You’re a jerk!'”

Andrew Garfield had first suited up as Spider-Man in Mark Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012, however, he recently made a much-anticipated return to the role with a cameo appearance in No Way Home. Here, he joined Tom Holland, who is the current Spider-Man, alongside former Spider-Man, Tobey Maguire from the Saim Raimi’s trilogy, for the mother of all superhero team-ups.

Andrew Garfield had previously spoken about various lies that he had to say in the interest of keeping his Spider-Man reprisal under strict wraps. He went on to call the process “stressful but also weirdly enjoyable,” even admitting that it felt like he was playing “this huge game of Werewolf” which kept every fan guessing about his return in the lead-up to the release.

After his appearance in No Way Home, Garfield had said that he would again consider returning to play the web-slinger again. There could be many good reasons to bring Andrew Garfield’s version of Parker back to the big screen, and as many fans seem to already rally for his return with the idea following a fresh wave of support for his character in recent the weeks.
