Now coming with a confirmed release date, the sights of most Star Wars fans are now firmly set on the latest installment to the ever-expanding Star Wars universe with the forthcoming series Obi-Wan Kenobi, only on Disney+.

Star of the prequel, Ewan McGregor is all set to return for his role as the Jedi Master after last making an appearance as the character in Revenge of the Sith (2005). It is worth stating that Ewan McGregor also did some voice work as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the sequel trilogy. The new series will be set at least ten years after the Clone Wars’ end. Apart from Kenobi himself, fans also know that Hayden Christensen will return to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker, more popularly known as Darth Vader. Christensen was last seen in the flesh, playing the role around 17 years ago for Episode III.

Based on speculations and the context of the series, we have compiled a few characters on who else could be making an appearance in Obi-Wan.

Qui-Gon Jinn

Will Qui-Gon Jinn appear in “Obi-Wan Kenobi”?

Qui-Gon Jinn, a Jedi Master,  died at the hands of Sith apprentice Darth Maul over 20 years before the setting of the series. However, Death has barely stopped those who are strong in the force from interfering with mortal affairs.

At Revenge of the Sith’s end, Obi-Wan is told by Yoda that he would have to undergo the training to finally get to perform in his confinement on Tatooine and the fact that it would be given to him by his old master who had “returned from the netherworld of the Force.” Liam Neeson who had played the character in The Phantom Menace has, however, stated, that he is not in the project. Perhaps it’s all just a Jedi mind trick, maybe?

Ahsoka Tano

Ahsoka already has a solo Star Wars series to her name.
Ahsoka will premiere next year on Disney+

It’s quite unlikely that Kenobi received these friendly visits in the Dune Sea. However, among those who were active in the galaxy, and the one who would be well received by him, than the padawan of his own former apprentice, Ahsoka Tano. The character was played by Rosario Dawson in The Mandalorian and more recently in The Book of Boba Fett. She is also rumored to return for the role again for her own solo series, Ahsoka, which is rumored to air in 2023. It would come as surprise if she chooses to wear the lekku again.

There’s also a possibility that there will be a series of flashbacks taking place during the Clone Wars conflict, which would give fans a chance to not only see Skywalker and Kenobi back in action but will also allow them to share the screen together in order to bring The Clone Wars back to life as has been repeated with most of the animated Star Wars world recently.

Satine Kryze

A flashback can show fans the former ruler of Mandalore, Duchess Satine Kryze in Obi-Wan Kenobi

Another mental projection/flashback opportunity can shape the former ruler of Mandalore, Duchess Satine Kryze in the upcoming series. The politician from The Mandalorian was also a rare love interest of Wan Kenobi’s.

She would go on to fall to the hands of Darth Maul, as a part of his ultimate revenge on Kenobi and Mandalore’s conquest.

Darth Maul

Darth Maul in Obi-Wan Kenobi??
Trained by the evil Darth Sidious, Darth Maul was a warrior and scheming mastermind

This turns out to be a tricky one. For fans who have seen the animated series Rebels, we have already seen the final confrontation of Kenobi and arguably, his greatest personal rival, Darth Maul.

This confrontation takes place many years post the Kenobi series, Maul has managed to manipulate Jedi apprentice, Ezra Bridger into leading him to Wan Kenobi’s hiding place. When Darth tries to threaten Luke Skywalker, Kenobi comes back into action, bringing Maul to his end in a quick but very tense duel. Darth has had a major impact on Obi-Wan Kenobi’s life. It wouldn’t be so surprising to see his presence felt in the series in a meaningful way.

Cal Kestis

Can Cal Kestis make an apperance in Obi-Wan Kenobi
Will Cal Kestis be played by Cameron Monaghan?

The trailer for “Obi-Wan Kenobi” does offer a glimpse at the live-action debut of the inquisitors – a group of force users, who are extremely loyal to the Empire that is after Jedi, and we even get to see their base of operations, known as the Fortress Inquisitorius. Since an underwater Imperial stronghold made its debut back in the 2019 Star Wars video game “Jedi: Fallen Order,” we might also get to see the protagonist of the game, Cal Kestis – who’s a Jedi – to finally make an appearance in the series.

If Cal appears in the much-anticipated series, could he be portrayed by Shameless star Cameron Monaghan, who played the character for the video game? Only time has the answers.
