Paramount Pictures had just released the first official look of Isabela Moner as Dora The Explorer in the first live action film on the popular animated series.

They also announced that the big-screen adaptation of the popular Peabody award-winning Animated series began its principal photography on August 6 in Queensland, Australia. The film is being directed by James Bobbi (Muppets, “Flight of Choncords”). This film will mark the beloved character’s big screen debut after 14 seasons on Nickelodeon and 172 episodes on Viacom. The film is produced by Nickelodeon in association with Paramount Players and Walden Media.

The film stars Isabela Moner who is known best of her roles in Tranformers: The Last Knight and Sicario in the titular role. The film revolves around the life of Dora who spends most of her time exploring the jungle with her parents. Her best friend is a monkey named Diego and the film will be a live action adventure which will see Dora saving her parents and solving a mystery behind an ancient civilisation.

Moner is joined by the popular Mexican actor Eugenio Derbeza, who will play a mysterious jungle inhabitant named Alejandro in the film. The film also features Micke Moreno and Nicholas Coombe in other significant roles. Additional key casting announcement are yet to be made by the studio. The film will be entirely filmed in Queensland, Australia and will use its diverse landscape which includes tropical forests near Tallebudgera.

The film is scheduled to release on August 2, 2019.
