When Paul Bettany was asked by Stephen Colbert during an interview on The Late Show, if he’d make an appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the actor, in true Marvel fashion, managed to dodge and tease the possibility of Vision, appearing in Doctor Strange 2.

Paul Bettany came as a guest on The Late Show alongside actress Claire Foy, who also starred opposite Bettany in the recent historical drama miniseries, titled A Very British Scandal when Stephen Colbert successfully addressed the rumors about whether the android Avenger will appear in the film.

“This is a really great question. And, again, I said I was going to be entirely honest with you. You’re asking if… ‘Am I in Doctor Strange?’… Yes, no, yes, no, yes, no. I don’t know. Am I? What do you think?… I can neither confirm nor deny rumors that I am in said and aforementioned Doctor Strange.”

Keeping all jokes aside, the recent affairs of MCU storylines establish that such rumors aren’t really wholly unfounded; although Vision had died at the hands of Thanos during the events of Infinity War, the Disney+ miniseries WandaVision also saw the character’s body getting reassembled, but he was completely void of his previous version’s memories. This reassembled android went on to regain his memories as the show went on to proceed, going on to flee the scene shortly after.

Also, to note is the blooming romance between Wanda Maximoff and Vision, who has been confirmed as a central character in the Multiverse of Madness. Wanda’s role as a major character in the film is an ample opportunity to explore the aftermath of WandaVision, where her emotional trauma was key to the entire plot.

Paul Bettany’s secrecy around the rumors also echoes Marvel’s strict tendency to keep the details around the plot under wraps, even from their own actors and actresses depending on the situation. For now, as it looks like, we’ll only get all the answers when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits the theaters on May 6.
