The Russo Brothers- Anthony and Joe- are known for often trolling the MCU fan base by dropping in fake reveals and teases that get fans going over the most ridiculous things.

They are yet again in news after a post on Instagram was made from their account that revealed the title for Avengers 4. Here’s what the post said:

Obviously the film won’t be titled as “Aftermath of obliteration of Eternity” but it is actually the name of a piece of artwork by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. The artwork is currently on display at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Here’s what inspired Kusama to complete this piece of artwork:

“Expanding upon her lifelong obsession with the dissolution of the self into the infinite, Yayoi Kusama created Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity the year of her eightieth birthday. Viewers are invited to step into the room and stand on the central platform. Over time a delicate, shimmering mirage unfolds, as an array of lights ignites and is mirrored on every surface of the all-encompassing environment. In less than a minute, however, all light disappears, and then the cycle starts anew.”

After looking at the full display of the exhibit, it’s easy to see how it inspired the Russos to draw an Avengers connection from it. This artwork is actually a brilliant fit for what may have happened to all the souls post Thanos’ snap. Kusama’s theme also suggests the “dissolution of the self into the infinite”; something that oddly fits with the ending of Infinity War.

So yes, this isn’t really the official title of Avengers 4 but it’s an intriguing amalgam of high art and pop art on a thematic plane and while this doesn’t reveal the title of the next Avengers film, it may have just revealed the actual thematic inspiration behind Avengers 4.

“Life is what I always try to understand—its depths and its mystique of rise and fall. I struggle for it throughout my life. From day to day, I understand the greatness brought by this mystique as well as that love is eternal and keeps appearing and disappearing. And what is more, I am very pleased to be alive after realizing that I have overcome this everyday life and been able to reach today. Yet we keep flashing, disappearing, and again blossoming out in this Eternity.”

Avengers 4 releases on May 3, 2019.
