Ryan Reynolds is celebrating famous Golden Girls star and “ex” Betty White on her 97th birthday celebration.

“I don’t usually talk about ex-girlfriends. But Betty’s special,” Reynolds tweeted. “Happy Birthday to the one and only, @BettyMWhite.”

A year ago, Reynolds celebrated White’s birthday with an Instagram post. This showed his red-leather suit-clad merc holding a martini, toasting “one more year of ‘Tinis and Weenies.”

The lovebirds co-starred in the 2009 comedy, The Proposal. Reynolds played a servile assistant pushed into an artificial wedding with his domineering boss to keep her expelling to Canada.

Reynolds also evoked White’s name on her 94th birthday in 2016 when sharing a Deadpool TV spot, tweeting, “Betty White was born 94 years ago today. Sometime later, this movie got made. Coincidence?”

White later showed up in a promotion publicizing 2016’s Deadpool. The advertisement closes with White sat in the lap of a Deadpool standee. This reads “sit on this” — and blazing an enthusiastic two thumbs up.

Somebody said something the other day about first lady of television, and I took it as a big compliment,” White said. “And then I heard her talking to her daughter a little later, and she said, ‘First lady, she’s that old. She was the first one way back!’”

The performer and comic was recognised at the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards in September. This was where the Mary Tyler Moore Show star joked about her life span as she is the longest TV career of any female performer.
