The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, are finally unveiling an in-depth version of their stories through their Netflix series, Harry & Meghan. This anticipated series dropped its first three episodes on Thursday morning, which revolves around the life of the royal couple along with the hurdles and challenges they went through including their royal wedding.
Their relationship started in 2016, with the pair getting married on May 19, 2018. They share two children, Archie and Lilibet. The royal couple’s wedding was itself a huge event, however, it turned riveting once the latter’s father got involved. The former holds himself responsible for the sour relationship Markle has with her father.
Prince Harry Holds Himself Responsible for Meghan Markle and Her Father’s Bad Terms
The 38-year-old royal, Prince Harry in his latest docuseries Harry & Meghan opens up about his thoughts on the fallout between his wife, Meghan Markle, and her father, Thomas Markle. Stating in the Netflix series, he holds himself responsible by stating, “She had a father before this, and now she doesn’t have a father.”
He continued to state, “And I shouldered that. If Meg wasn’t with me, then her dad would still be her dad.”
Days before their wedding, the former actress’s father was possibly staging photos of himself preparing for the wedding for money. When the couple reached out to him regarding the same, he initially denied his participation, eventually apologizing for the same.
Not just that, the father-daughter relationship became more strained when he leaked a personal letter from his daughter to the tabloids. Though, later on, he mentioned that he was being “vilified” by articles about him.
Meghan Markle’s Reaction to Knowing Her Father Won’t Attend Her Wedding
The mother of two in the docuseries throws light on her relationship with her father stating how she got to know that her father would not attend her wedding through tabloids. “I’m finding out that you’re not coming to our wedding … through a tabloid!” she shared.
She also showed her text messages she sent to her father when he told her he was back in the hospital ahead of the Duchess of Sussex’s wedding in 2018.
After trying multiple times to get in touch with her father, she eventually texted him not to talk to the press.
“Please can I ask that you stop talking to any press… You haven’t returned any of our 20+ calls since we spoke on Saturday morning; which only adds to the hurt you’ve been causing.”
To think that her father ignored her texts while maintaining his communication with the media was hard for the Suits alum.
