The 60-year-old actress, Demi Moore struggled with substance abuse after heavy use at a young age. While she sought treatment for the same in 1985, things went bizarre again when she relapsed in her 40s. Her youngest daughter, Tallulah Willis made an appearance on Jada Pinkett Smith’s The Red Table Talk where she opened up about how her mother’s substance abuse eventually took a toll on their relationship.

In the Red Table Talk discussion, the 29-year-old actress got candid with hosts Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Jones about her mother’s condition stating how it felt as if “the sun went down and like a monster came.”

Stating how Moore’s condition would get influenced due to the relapse, she shared,

“I remember there’s just the anxiety that would come up in my body when I could sense her eyes shutting a little bit more, the way she was speaking. Or she would be a lot more affectionate with me if she wasn’t sober.”

She had a hard time during that period as she stated,

It was very weird, and there were moments where it would get angry,” she added. “I recall being very upset and kind of treating her like a child and speaking to her like a child. It was not the mom that we had grown up with.”

She even mentioned it in a mother’s day Instagram Post.

Back in 2020, the youngest daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis opened up about her relationship with her mother, stating it was not always all good. Mentioning that those three years were quite a struggle for her.

She shared,

“I didn’t talk to my mom for almost 3 years and during that shattered time this day [Mother’s Day] would transport me from fragmented pieces to absolute dust.”

She added,

“I remember tearing up driving to work upon hearing a radio ad that cheerily recommend which ‘perfume Mom would absolutely adore’. I digested the entire celebratory nature of the day as an insensitive slight to MY pain and MY story.”

However, things eventually came to an end as she shared a little later, “Every nook and cranny of you is worthy and gilded. I love you.”

While they used to have a complicated relationship due to the relapse, she has tried her best since then to make up for the difficult time. Even Moore’s kids are supportive of her and love her a lot. Not just her daughters, she has opened up about her struggle in her memoir, Inside Out, which is available in bookstores.
