Dr. Sheldon Cooper and Mr. Howard Wolowitz are reuniting on Young Sheldon.

It was announced on Thursday by CBS that Simon Helberg will recur again in his Big Bang Theory role as Howard Wolowitz (in a voiceover capacity). In all the Nov. 18 episodes, he will be heard from start till end as he assists (and bickers with) Jim Parsons’ Sheldon, who sheds the light on the complex relationship between Shledon and engineering – a storyline that was initially teased as part of TVLine’s Fall Preview in September by Steve Molaro, co-creator.

In the very same episode, Shledon’s first instructor at engineering, Fringe vet Lance Reddick, and Professor Boucher, will be introduced. It also features Reba McEntire’s return as June, Dale’s ex-wife. Both Reddick and Helberg can be seen in the sneak peek above.

“We love being able to explore the origins of Sheldon Cooper every week on Young Sheldon,” Molaro said in a statement. “But it’s always extra fun when we’re able to incorporate Big Bang Theory Easter eggs into the storylines”.

“Getting to work with Simon again to help explain Sheldon’s long hatred of engineering was a dream come true,” he continued. “Jim and Simon – even in voiceover on Zoom – didn’t miss a beat in their banter as Sheldon Cooper and Howard Wolowitz. Plus, this episode sees the return of Reba McEntire and introduces Lance Reddick as Sheldon’s first engineering professor – it’s absolutely one of our best episodes”.

The third alum to get together on Young Sheldon with Parsons is Simon Helberg. Kayley Cucuo (aka Penny) did an unclaimed voice piece in one of Sheldon’s nightmares in Season 3. After that, in the fourth season premiere, Amy was voiced by Mayim Bialik – to assist Sheldon unveil that the name of their first child would be Leonard.

In the Season 2 finale of Young Sheldon, a younger version of Howard (played by Ethan Stern) did appear (alongside other pint-sized Big Bang characters), which was aired on the same night as the Big Bang Theory’s series finale in May 2019.
