Michael Rosenbaum really enjoyed his portrayal of Lex Luther on the WB’s classic series, Smallville. His role was appreciated by fans too and now after seven long years since the show has gone off the air, Rosenbaum has yet teased that he’s ready to return as Lex!

Rosenbaum responded to the Henry Cavill DC exit reports with a cheeky comment on Twitter saying that he wished Eisenberg (who plays Lex Luthor in the DCEU) was done at Warner Bros. too, hinting that he still wants to play Lex on the big screen. “I wish Eisenberg was done at Warner Bros. Give me my job back,” Rosenbaum tweeted.

Jesse Eisenberg played the role of Lex in 2016’s BvS: Dawn of Justice and later in Justice League. However, Eisenberg received poor reviews from both fans and critics which puts his future at DCEU in jeopardy.

With the launch of the new streaming service of DC Universe, Warner Bros might have an opening for Rosenbaum, as the online platform will home to all original DC content including past films and shows. Many fans have already been persisting on adding Smallville to the service too.

We also learned recently that there could be a possibility of a Smallville revival as an animated series, with the original cast picking up from where the live-action show left off as Kent embraced his journey as Superman. This possibility was mentioned by Rosenbaum himself along with Tom Welling, who played the titular role in the series.

“I mean, animated could be fun,” Welling said.

“I said to Al [Gough, Smallville co-creator], we should do an animated Smallville,” Rosenbaum replied. “That would be huge! I mean, Smallville: The Animated Series, with all the real voices? And I wouldn’t have to shave my head! We’ve got to do that. Can you imagine us on mics doing the same dialogue?”

Later Kristen Kreuk who portrayed Lana Lang on the series also teased her interest in a revived animated series. “Yeah, absolutely,” Kreuk said. “I’ve never thought about it, but that sounds like it could be a lot of fun… Michael wouldn’t want to shave his head again, I’m fairly certain. But yeah, that would be a lot of fun. I haven’t seen those guys in a long time.”

Well, Animated or live-action Rosenbaum was a really impressive Lex Luther back in the days and we hope DC brings him back again!
