Spent a Lifetime Building My Brand’: Kylie Minogue Fights Kylie Cosmetics, Calls Out Kylie Jenner for Stealing Her Name

Kylie Minogue is a popular Australian singer and songwriter known for compositions like Can’t Get You Out of My Head, Chiggy Wiggy, Especially For You, and more. She visibly shares her first name with the influencer and businesswoman Kylie Jenner. It was not a problem until 2014, Jenner took forward the step to apply a trademark to her cosmetics company, named ‘Kylie’. Minogue immediately came out to oppose this.

Kylie Minogue v/s Kylie Jenner Lawsuit

Kylie Minogue is a brand and has her reputation revolving around her name. She has been using so for all her life and career. She believed that Jenner’s application for a trademark with the name “Kylie” would likely cause confusion and risk damage to her name.

Hence in 2014, Minogue filed an opposing suit against Kylie Jenner. Finally in 2017, after a lot of ups and downs, Minogue was successful and Jenner was prohibited by the US Patent and Trademark from using the name.

Jenner is never seen talking in-depth about the infamous legal battle although Minogue has made it clear that it was nothing personal with the young influencer.

Recently, Minogue chose to break silence about the happening. “I’ve never met Kylie Jenner. I’ve never met any member of the family — actually, I’ve met Kendall just in passing at a fashion event — but I honestly don’t know them. When I was named Kylie, I think I met one person older than me called Kylie. So it’s kind of unusual. I’ve spent a lifetime protecting my brand and building my brand so it was just something that had to be done,” she stated, prompting Andy’s agreement”‘ said the pop singer now, years after the case. 

She also said, “Let me also say we agreed”, hinting at an agreement between the two famed women.

She said she has not met anyone from the popular family, neither during the lawsuit. The singer holds no threads and would rather love to see them.
