The trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has been launched and the fans are still wondering where are Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield and will they be even appearing in the movie?
The Spider-Man threequel is one of the most anticipated films in the Phase 4 of Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The excitement has been building since the time it was announced and finally Marvel and Sony have released the first Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer.
It features Tom Holland as Spiderman and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange and that confirms that Multiverse would play a major part of the film.
And the best news; it marks the return of Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus

The trailer of course doesn’t giveaway everything.
Previous Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are still strongly rumoured to be associated with the production and will be swinging their way into the MCU as variants from different timelines. The Spider-Verse team-up really is one of Hollywood’s worst kept secrets. Mr. Dell actor JB Smoove has said he’ll love to see Tobey Maguire work with Tom Holland.

Considering it is much open secret, then why didn’t the trailer for Spider- Man: No Way Home confirm Maguire and Garfield’s different versions of Spider- Man?

It’s a given that the trailer release if literally the beginning of marketing for the film and it even achieves the same; however it explores the consequences of Spider-Man’s identity reveal at the end of Spider- Man: Far From Home, which explains the MCU connections and the Multiverse, and shows a lot of interaction between Spider-Man and Doctor Strange.
The trailer lays the foundations for the movie- just what we expect from the first trailer to do. Marvel & Sony would obviously want to hold shots of Garfield and Maguire back for the second phase of marketing, closer to the release when they will have a greater impact especially given everybody is expecting them.

The truth is that the trailer does indeed confirm the various cinematic universe are intertwining. The villains teased up are associated with Jamie Foxx’s Electro from 2014’s The Amazing Spider- Man 2, the Goblin bomb is clearly one of those used by William Dafoe’s Green Goblin in 2002’s Spider- Man and of course the trailer ends with the shot of Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus – the main villain of 2004’s Spider- Man 2.
It makes sense to focus on this version of Doctor Octopus who’s generally considered one of the best characters to ever appear in a superhero movie.
Molina himself has hardly been secretive about his involvement, openly discussing his role in interviews, so this reveal didn’t spoil much.
Doctor Octopus doesn’t have a new design unlike Electro which is yet to be seen.

Looks like the marketing team doesn’t really want to give away too much.
