‘Star Trek’ Star Nichelle Nichols Diagonsed with Dementia

According to a recent report by TMZ, Star Trek star Nichelle Nichols has been diagnosed with dementia.

Nichols’ Geriatrician, Dr. Meena Makhijani revealed this in her report, saying that the 85-year old actress is currently suffering from major impairment of her short-term memory, sense of time and place and immediate recall, as per TMZ.

However, TMZ also adds that Makhijani has not provided any evidence to the actress’ apparent memory loss or her ability to reason logically. Her son, Kyle Johnson also revealed in May that her mother is suffering from dementia. He even accused that his mother had fallen prey to certain people who forcefully extorted themselves into her life.

Nichols has been a pop culture icon since long after she famously shared American television’s first interracial kiss with her Star Trek co-star William Shatner. Nichols is often seen as the one responsible behind paving the path for future stars like Zoe Saldana in the reboot of Stark Trek in 2009.

Nichols continues to appear in movies and television with Unbelievable!!!! and American Nightmares, that is scheduled to release this year.
