It seems like the Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian may have taken their inspiration from the now-canceled video game, Star Wars 1313.

This article might contain spoilers for the latest episode of The Book of Boba Fett!

Popular Game designer Grant Parker recently revealed on Twitter that he was the one working on the long-canceled Star Wars action-adventure game, even noting that some of the concept designs of the game seem to have appeared on the Disney+ Star Wars series.

“I did some early pre-pro work on a bar in this section,” he said in response to a video featuring his level designs. “And some of the planning for a meat factory (you see the hanging tauntaun carcasses). It was the first professional-level design work I ever did. It was very important to me. Happy to see it again.”

It looks like Parker and the work on 1313 by the team were important to Lucasfilm too, as the entire scene has happened to make its way into The Book of Boba Fett in a completely new form.

“Fun Fact: a lot of excellent early concept stuff from 1313 has been repurposed and used in Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett,” he added. “I was so happy the latest episode even had a meat locker with tauntauns in it.”

This particular scene that is being referred to is the return of The Mandalorian in this week’s episode of The Book of Boba Fett on Disney+. Din Djarin had made quite a remarkable entrance this past week as he slashed and hacked his way using a Darksaber through a meat locker.

Din’s appearance gives fans a big hint about what really to expect in the upcoming season of The Mandalorian – but it looks almost exactly as something Parker described in Star Wars 1313.

Here, Parker is implying that he has spotted some more elements of 1313 – perhaps some we haven’t seen publicly yet – within the recent Disney+ series.

Near the start of this story, Brian Altano had noted that the recently released Star Wars 1313 footage looks quite similar to the roof-top chase from the sophomore episode of The Book of Boba Fett.

Star Wars 1313 was a promising game built around playing Boba Fett in an action adventure. The game was canceled when Disney went on to purchase the Star Wars franchise and ultimately shut down LucasArts. However, it looks like some of the hard work that was done on the game was eventually used in newer ways.

The question is – are we going to see more once-canceled content from Star Wars 1313 in the shows? That is certainly something we would likely not know for sure. However, wherever there’s a wretched hive of villainy, we’ve all started to be wondering where it all sprang from.

Disney+’s The Book of Boba Fett stars Temuera Morrison as the iconic bounty hunter, with Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand. Actor Pedro Pascal also joined this week as Din Djarin, with David Pasquesi, Matt Berry, and Carey Jones.
