For its general plot and cast of characters, the American teen drama television program Euphoria, created by Sam Levinson for HBO, earned a lot of praise. A recovering young heroin addict named Rue Bennett, played by Zendaya battles to find her place in the world. The show features dark elements of drugs and trauma among other sensitive issues. All of this increased the series’ popularity, and Zendaya got praise for the range of emotions she conveyed throughout the show.

Zendaya has once more made history at the Emmys. She won her second Drama Actress trophy, making her the first black actress to ever win the award twice. The support that the internet has given to the celebrity is everything she deserves and has rightfully earned.

Zendaya wins an Emmy for her role in Euphoria… again!

The actress received four Emmy nominations for her efforts in Euphoria‘s second season. She received four awards in total. Two for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics from songs she co-wrote for the program. One for producing and one for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

The fact that Zendaya is the first black woman to have won the Emmy for lead actress in a drama series twice. This is what makes her victory all the more significant. She won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Emmy for the first time ever in 2020 which was also for Euphoria. This year’s nominations made her the category’s youngest two-time candidate.

The actress has grown and inspired so many with her journey

Starting from her career as an actress, Zendaya was a Disney girl. The actress featured in the series Shake It Up. She would later come in other Disney-related projects such as Zapped and Frenemies. Let’s not forget the Disney series that she acted in and produced in K.C. Undercover. As for the reason why the actress has not returned for any further projects with Disney, she stated the following: 

“The only way I was going to come back to the Disney Channel was if I was in a position of more power. One thing that is really important to me is diversity on the channel. It’s hard as a young person of a different ethnicity or background to look at the TV and not see anyone who looks like you. Representation is very important.”

Clearly, the actress is extremely aware of how people of color have to struggle in Hollywood. Her victory for her second Emmy award only goes to show that the actress is changing how Hollywood treats black actors and actresses by giving them hard-hitting roles more often. Upon winning the award, Zendaya gave a few tear-jerking words when she talked about how the show has affected her life.

“Anyone who has loved a Rue or feels like they are a Rue, I want you to know that I am so grateful for your stories, and I carry them with me, and I carry them with her.” 

The actress has now become the first black woman to own two Emmy awards. Not to mention at such a youthful phase of her life as well. Zendaya truly knows her worth and does not shy away from owning it. The celebrity has made quite the mark in Hollywood history by this victory and hopefully goes on to break more feats.
