The Suicide Squad opened up to a great response from the audience and critics alike. Even though the box office collection is not that strong, it’s the pandemic to blame and not the movie. Gunn brought in some great actors such as Idris Elba, John Cena, Pete Davidson, Margot Robbie, Sylvester Stallone, etc. And of course, His choice of the villain was also peculiar but it somehow worked. The anti-hero team was up against a giant starfish called Starro the Conqueror. One thing is clear when Gunn is in the director’s seat, you can expect some crazy action and The Suicide Squad was exactly it. Robbie is one of the few actors who got the chance to reprise her role in the second movie. However, Gunn’s iteration is not a sequel per se, it’s a reboot. Even though it mentions past events, it follows an entirely different plot with a bunch of new characters. It’s been a while now that we’ve seen Margot Robbie justify the character of Harley Quinn. She knows exactly the level of crazy that she has to bring to the table.

In one of the scenes, it’s actually Margot Robbie who takes the lead and performs her own stunt. Moreover, this particular sequence in the movie was simply exhilarating. After the initial chaos at Corta Maltese ends, Quinn is taken hostage by the President’s troops. But in a crazy turn of events, she kills the President and is immediately locked up. And now, she has to escape. On the other hand, the rest of the Suicide Squad is planning to protect her.
Harley Quinn, after her breakup with Joker, is more reckless and literally in no need of support. So she decides to take matters into her own hands. While she is tied to the ceiling. she chokes the guard by her legs and that too mercilessly. Then. she gracefully proceeds to collect the keys to her cuffs bare feet with no trouble. But did you know that it wasn’t a stunt double who performed this? It was our very own Margot Robbie who slew this scene.
This was actually revealed by director James Gunn while some of the cast members were on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. He said:
“[Margot] is like a human Swiss Army knife, and watching this scene with her flipping backward was just beyond incredible. I was so happy that it worked and I was mesmerized by it. And then I got into the editing room with the footage and [she] has a cuff on [her] outfit that covers her face, so it looks like it’s a stunt person. It’s my biggest regret!”
Robbie is 31 and living like she’s 20. She’s drop-dead gorgeous with impeccable acting skills. DC fans know that Harley is someone who doesn’t succumb to her problems. Rather she is always thinking of plans of how to rise up from it. It looks like Robbie perfectly amalgamated Harley’s essence into her and performed this amazing scene. The Suicide Squad is in theatres and HBO Max.
