There are few franchises which have garnered the kind of dedicated fan following which Star Wars has. So it’s no surprise at all that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is being veiled in secrecy to protect the movie from being leaked or even worse. This sworn secrecy is also because the movie is wrapping up the entire 9 part Skywalker saga as well. But inspite of all the security, there was one major leak.

If you checked out the movie trailer even once you know will that “Dark Rey” is appearing in it. But what makes her go dark? (was it the guilt of almost leaking the Star wars script?) We will know a little later in December, but for now let us speculate:

The Hard Truth About Dark Rey In 'Rise Of Skywalker' Revealed

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Script Almost Leaked

During an interview with GMA, J.J. Abrams confirmed that one official script for Star Wars: The Rise Skywalker almost made it onto Ebay. This means that the big Skywalker finale almost became public knowledge. But he didn’t say who was responsible for this almost huge leak. During the interview he said:

“One of our actors, I won’t say which one- I want to, but I won’t- left it under their bed and it was found by someone who was cleaning their place and it was given to someone else, who then went to sell it on eBay.”

Crisis was averted because of Disney’s many Web-watchers who are always on the lookout for such things. One of them spotted the Rise of Skywalker script go up for sale and swooped in to buy it. This resulted in the script not being leaked and Lucasfilms got their golden egg back.

Even though Abrams didn’t take any names but the internet couldn’t stop itself from speculating. Supporting actors have previously revealed that they don’t get the full scripts to take home and instead just get their relevant scenes. They only get to read the whole story under guard. So this means that it could have been an actor in the main cast. Now instead of spreading unnecessary rumours which are steeped in personal bias, lets just be glad that the script leak was avoided. This is one story which fans should enjoy without being spoiled. After all, many deaths are coming.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20th. The Mandalorian is now streaming on Disney+.
