DC’s upcoming The Batman by Matt Reeves is set to reboot the franchise with star Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, so you can surely bet your dollar that wherever we see a Batman reboot, there’ll be an actor playing his father, Thomas Wayne.

The Batman will see Thomas Wayne

There are a lot of reasons to get totally hyped up about the upcoming Batman flick, even despite the sad news that this next Dark Knight film will have a PG-13 rating. For once, The Batman will have adopted many visual cues from the earlier versions of the character, setting up a Gotham City that will undermine both the DCEU and the versions by Christopher Nolan. For the former, all we can really comment on is good riddance. For the latter, it’s quite high time that Batman escaped the Tenet director’s long shadow he has lurked in for years.

Despite the unique approach, there’ll be a lot of familiar faces and elements from the Caped Crusader’s story, namely Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz) or James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright). Many eagle-eyed fans have now noticed that the upcoming Reeves film will also incorporate Thomas Wayne into the films’ narrative, with Game of Thrones alum Luke Roberts set to play the character.

In a recent Instagram post, Luke Roberts revealed that he’s doing a last-minute “research” for a character that’s under NDA. If you zoom in on the picture, you’ll see that he’s reading Batman: Sins of the Father, which is a story that correlates with Batman‘s official premise.

For fans who don’t know, Luke Roberts had portrayed Sir Arthur Dayne in the third episode of season six of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Now, it looks like British thespian is bringing his acting chops to the dark world of DC.
