The council in the south of England has urged parents to not let their kids watch Netflix’s popular series Squid Game. This news comes after the reports that children as young as six were actually copying all the challenges that were depicted in Netflix’s Battle Royale-style Korean series.

According to the Guardian, the education safeguarding team that hails from the Central Bedfordshire council went on to email parents in the entire district pointing out the fact that the show is rated 15 and strongly recommended that the parents have to “be vigilant” about their kids having access to the show.

Netflix’s Squid Game has been popular worldwide for its unique plot which attracted the viewers pretty faster than the show makers anticipated it to be. The plot revolves around “Hundreds of cash-strapped contestants accept an invitation to compete in children’s games for a tempting prize, but the stakes are deadly.”

Since then, the fans have taken the internet to show their love for the show and even make reels on the same. Many fans have been asking for the makers to come up with a second season and answer the questions which weren’t touched upon!

But things aren’t the same in the schools in the UK.

According to the reports of the schools around the UK and a little further too, are seeing incidents where the children were replicating certain games from the show and even dealing physical punishment to the losers.

And some kids haven’t watched the show directly but are acquainted with it thanks to the social media platforms as TikTok and Instagram which have a lot of Squid Game-related content and even users posting their versions of the challenges.

The council email read as such, ” There have been some concerning reports recently about children and young people ‘playing’ Squid Game whilst at school. Squid Game is also being viewed via other platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, and given the popularity of the games in the show, developers have made various mini-games based on Squid Game on Roblox and other gaming platforms. We strongly advise that children should not watch Squid Game. The show is quite graphic with a lot of violent content.”

Let’s hope that actors and show makers don’t land themselves in trouble
