The main actor of the infamous movie, The Mask, Jim Carrey revealed that he would consider returning for the sequel of the movie, if only, his one condition is met.
What is his condition?
“I don’t think in terms of sequels and stuff like that, I mean, this one [Sonic The Hedgehog] is kind of right for it because we have not evolved the character [Dr. Eggman] fully yet,” Carrey, who is starring in Sonic the Hedgehog as Dr. Ivo Robotnik/Dr, Eggman, told ComicBook.com. “The Mask I think, myself, you know, it would depend on a filmmaker. It depends on a filmmaker really. I don’t want to do it just to do it. But I would only do it if it was some crazy visionary filmmaker. Sure.”
What was The Mask?
The Mask was first released in theaters over twenty five years ago and was a major breakthrough as it was responsible for furthering Carrey’s career, as one of the topmost stars in the ’90s, in the comedy. It also provided the first major role for the co-star Cameron Diaz. Based on the Dark Horse comic series of the same name by Mike Richardson, Doug Mahnke, and John Arcudi, it features Carrey as an unfortunate bank clerk, Stanley Ipkiss whose life suddenly takes a u-turn and opens up his fortune, when he finds a magic mask filled with powerful abilities.
Reboot of The Mask?
Richardson, who helped establish the character with Dark Horse, previously said that he’d like to see a reboot of the character with a woman wearing the Mask.
Carrey shall be seen in Sonic the Hedgehog, hitting the theaters on February 14th.
