Talking only about Game of the Year in specific, the titles that shall compete for the highest accolade at the Game Awards are It Takes Two, Psychonauts 2, Metroid Dread, Deathloop, Resident Evil Village, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. These games are few of the most critically acclaimed ones of the year and it’s not at all surprising to see them here. But as expected by many, some fans were pissed off at a few of the omissions that did not make it to the impressive Game of the Year lineup. Notably, games such as Forza Horizon 5 and Returnal were two of those games that fans felt deserved to be in the list. This being said and written, each game got through for nominations for other categories at the awards show.

Here are the nominees:

When the publisher broke down the entire list of nominees, Xbox Game Studios turned out to be the winner by a huge margin this year. Among all its titles published in 2021 by both, Betheseda and Xbox, the company got 20 nominations this year. With eleven nominations, PlayStation Studios was right behind in the list. Meanwhile, Square Enix and Electronic Arts got ten nominations each while Nintendo and Capcon got in 7 each for themselves.

In totality, The Game Awards are all set to happen on December 9, which happens to be a Thursday. As usual, apart from the winner announcement of the many available categories, the mega event will also be featuring various new announcements related to titles which will release in the days to follow.
