Daredevil was cancelled by Netflix earlier this week, and now it’s increasingly clear that the relationship between Netflix and Marvel TV has started to deteriorate beyond repair. Daredevil has now become the fourth Marvel show that Netflix has decided not to renew — after Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders — leaving behind The Punisher and Jessica Jones, as active properties on the streaming giant.

While many fans are asking why Jessica Jones and The Punisher are yet to be cancelled and the answer to this is pretty self-explanatory. Both these shows have a new season under works, so it would be reasonable to believe that Netflix is just waiting for the latest and probably the last seasons to premiere before axing either show.

Although Netflix may not decide to order any future properties from Marvel Television, they’ve still invested millions in both of the shows and more than likely want to see the marketing and publicity of the shows till the very end.

Both the shows are yet to be assigned a release date, but it’s pretty safe to assume that both seasons will release in the first half of 2019. Season 2 of The Punisher wrapped its production earlier this August and Jessica Jones season three is still in its production stage.

It was announced by Netflix this past week that will not be renewing Daredevil for a fourth season. Although many fans anticipated this, it came as a surprise to many fans, as the season 3 of Daredevil was appreciated by both fans and critics.

Here’s what Marvel said about the cancellation:

“Marvel is extremely grateful to the huge audience that loved Marvel’s Daredevil,” Marvel said in a statement. “From the moment of young Matt’s first act of heroism to the birth of Page, Murdock, & Nelson, it has been an unbelievable journey. We are incredibly proud of the amazing showrunners and writers starting with Drew Goddard and Steven DeKnight, Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie and Erik Oleson, Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Vincent D’Onofrio and our casts who brought our characters to life with such excellence, and every one of the fantastic crews in NYC. We look forward to more adventures with the Man without Fear in the future.”
