The third season of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy is finally out but many hardcore fans have started to already clamor for more.
It has been an almost two-year wait for the most recent Umbrella Academy episodes to premiere, however, the potential for the upcoming chapter is expected to come with a new surprising twist – the climax or end of the story.
Showrunner Steve Blackman Hints At The Series End
While opening up in a new interview, series showrunner and creator Steve Blackman acknowledged Umbrella Academy’s potential for season four, even revealing that he already knows what the story going ahead will be, ad he has had a conversation with Netflix about the same, and he believes that it could be the final season for the team.
“I think inevitably if we got a Season 4, it’s going towards an endgame,” Blackman told TheWrap. “I think at a certain point, I’m not sure where we’d go after Season 4. We have to be careful. My plan for next year is not to continually tread on the same ground we have before. It’s a challenge to come up with a new way to subvert this storyline, and I think we have an idea how to do that. But I think if we got to Season 4, it would be a great ending for the run of the show. I’m not saying I couldn’t do more, but you know, I think that would be very satisfying for the audience, four seasons.”
Blackman Always Had An Idea Of The Ending Of The Umbrella Academy
Blackman also went on to reveal that since the very beginning he has had an idea in his head of what four seasons of the beloved series are going to look like, however, he also noted that if they want to expand beyond, he could take the series further.
He added, “I have no idea where I’m gonna go after Season 4 if we’re so lucky to have more of that. So I have four seasons of story in my head. I know where I want to go. I know where I want to end, and if we’re lucky enough, I hope the fans will get to see it. I don’t know if we’ll be at the end of the run or not. But either way, I have a plan.”
There Can Be More Tv Adaptations And Spinoffs
Blackman earlier spoke to ComicBook.com about the show and he stated that since the beginning of The Umbrella Academy, he’s been in touch with comic creators Gabriel and Gerard Way, sharing that they even revealed their own plans for the source material early on. Blackman’s adaptation for TV has strayed from the comics in a lot of ways, which means that the show’s ending probably will not be the same as in the comics.
