Katy Perry might have gone too far in the latest episode of American Idol and fans are leaving no stone unturned in calling her out for the audacity. Sunday nightâs episode of the singing reality show saw the Roar singer unnecessarily commenting about one of the contestants, Sara Beth Liebe, a 25 years old mom of three. Viewers were unimpressed by Perryâs rude and judgmental behavior towards Liebe and even went berserk on Twitter, calling her out for what they dubbed as “mom shaming”. It really calls into perspective how entitled reality show judges can sometimes feel.

Katy Perry questioned Sara Beth Liebe rather condescendingly referencing her being a mom of three at twenty-five, “Is this your dream?” She went on to say,
âIf it’s not your dream, you might need to leave because there’s a lot of dreams behind you. We need more. Sing it like it’s your new dream.â

The Chained to the Rhythm singer also said,
âLook, if it’s not your dream, it’s not gonna go far because I also respect everyone that’s walking through that door who will lay down their life for this golden ticket.â
Liebe however performed really well on her second try and the entire panel of judges gave her a round of applause. The 38-year-old later dubbed Liebe, “Accidental American Idol.” She further said, âI feel like a comic strip character just came to life.â
The contestant later admitted that the Harleys in Hawaii singerâs words and advice made her almost pass out.
Fans outraged at Katy Perry for mom-shaming
Fans were enraged at the California Gurls singerâs treatment of the showâs contestant. Twitter saw a series of tweets by numerous outraged viewers.
I really do not like how Katy Perry just treated Sara Beth on #AmericanIdol I donât watch this show at all and my tv was already on the channel but what I witnessed was not right. They let Katy Perry bully this woman on live national tv before she even started singing. So ugly.

This is not the first time that the mother of one has behaved inappropriately while judging the singing reality show. Her infamous and completely unsolicited kiss on the lips of a rather young male contestant is still an eyebrow-raiser. The contestant had claimed during the audition that he hadn’t kissed anyone yet and Perry took it into her hands to become his “first kiss”. The man later went on to admit that he felt very uncomfortable in that situation and that he always wanted his first kiss to be special.
