The Witcher Season 2 trailer was enough to make all the fans get excited for the upcoming season until the December release date and even though there was a lot of footage that involved Geralt, Ciri, and Yennerfer, the biggest reveal in the footage was of one of the franchise’s most iconic monsters.

Netflix
Still from The Witcher

The fans who watched the trailer saw the first look at the Netflix series version of a Leshen (also known as a Leshy). These forest spirits usually dwell in primeval woods and forests and typically have a deer skull as a head and their magic is powerful, so much so that no Witcher would want to approach them without taking any precaution first.

Here is a look at the show’s version of the Leshen below :

This Leshen from the show has a lower body made up of roots and tendrils that emanate from the ground and spin out towards the enemy and probably (assuming) this case, it could have been Geralt. This Leshen has a more natural tree like head and has vines growing upward as opposed to the antlers from the game’s version.

This reveal doesn’t mean that the traditional Leshy does not exist in this universe though as showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich was asked about the Leshen and said, “This is a special kind of leshy that you’ll have to watch to learn more about… #AskWitcher.”

Still from The Witcher

This could probably mean that there are other versions of Leshensin in the world or maybe their version is a bit different from all the previous versions. Looks like fans have to just wait and watch.

Here’s the official description for The Witcher season 2:
“Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.”

Fans can’t keep calm to know more about Leshen!
