While Ryan Reynolds still seems hot on the idea of having Hugh Jackman returning to play Wolverine for a crossover between the two characters, Jackman himself believes that a Deadpool/Wolverine crossover isn’t simply something that could connect with X-Men fan base.

During an interview with Sunday Today, Jackman was asked if he believed Wolverine would ever return to the big screen.

“Oh, Wolverine will be back,” said Jackman. “Someone’s going to buy him, I don’t know.”

“Not you though,” Geist added.

“No, but Ryan [Reynolds] is relentless,” Jackman continued. “He keeps coming back to me in all these ways, shapes and forms. I just said, ‘You know I just don’t think the world really wants to see Deadpool and Wolverine.’ Maybe a cameo from Deadpool? I just think it runs over it for Deadpool.”

Both the actors have already appeared on screen together as Logan and Wade Wilson. However, that came in the form of 2009’s X-Men: Wolverine, a film that was widely slammed by fans and critics both. While Deadpool is now a beloved character, Jackman is done with Logan after last year’s Logan.

Jackman even commented that the post-credits scene of Deadpool 2 is the closest fans could get to a proper Wolverine/Deadpool crossover.
