The Marvel Cinematic Universe is now diving deeper into the concept of the Multiverse. But here are some of the MCU characters who already possess the abilities and power to travel across different universes.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is now diving deeper into the concept that has been unfolded with the release of Loki – Multiverse. But there are some characters present in the MCU who can easily travel across Multiverses and between every dimension. The MCU has been setting up the Multiverse for a while now, partly giving hints through the Thor movies. This concept was perhaps essential for the Infinity Saga and it is clearly central to Phase 4. While the Marvel and Disney+ series Loki featured time travel as a gateway to manage the alternate realities, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will dive deeper into the promising concept.

Marvel’s multiversal concept is more than what it has been shown till now. Apparently, it is based on a model that is explored in the comics, explaining the fact that Multiverse is an endless ocean. While the Earth is at the center of this ocean, alternate timelines are just a stroke away. This is the exact timeline in which the Ancient One is formed via the “Magical Mystery Tour” scene in Doctor Strange.

With that said, these are the MCU characters that already possess the power to travel the Multiverse –

Doctor Strange can easily travel across the multiverses, even without the Infinity Stone. He possesses sling rings that create gateways through space and time. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has typically used this concept to travel from one place to another, as he traveled from Titan to Earth in Avengers: Endgame. As explained by Baron Mordo in Doctor Strange, “Mastery of the sling ring is essential to the mystic arts. It allows us to travel throughout the multiverse. All you have to do is focus. Visualize. See the destination in your mind. Look beyond the world in front of you.”

Scarlet Witch

The Ancient One once echoed “We harness energy drawn from other dimensions in the Multiverse to cast spells, conjure shields and weapons to make magic,” while teaching Doctor Strange. As per WandaVision, Scarlet Witch is the most powerful sorceress who also wields the Chaos Magic and draws Chaos Dimension. This refers to a source of energy that is driven from the Dark Dimension.

The Watcher

Marvel’s first-ever animated series, What if…?, introduced the Watcher, a cosmic being. In the series, the Watcher was forced to break his vow to defeat a threat. Traditionally, he was a being who was sworn not to interfere in any nexus. But the “protector of the Multiverse” gathers various superheroes from different multiverses to fight Ultron in What If…? episode 9. This proves his ability to travel across various timelines, dimensions, and realities.
