“They don’t know how to eat it”: Friends Star Teaches How Authentic New Yorkers Eat Pizza – With a Fork, Fans Claim ‘This has to be a skit’
Monica Geller has always been particular about seeing people act in an orderly manner. Who isn’t aware of the Friends’ character OCD? The Geller sister was often found telling people to act a certain way – that is her way. Courtney Cox seems to have followed in the footsteps of her on-screen persona.
Cox was recently instructing people on how to eat a New York Pizza, New York style. In her video, she spoke at length about how a real New Yorker would eat pizza, instructions which left people confused.
That is how New Yorkers do it (or is it?)
In a video that has been doing the rounds on Twitter, Courtney Cox can be seen sitting in a pizzeria. Where she had a valuable lesson in store for all of us. The Ace Ventura: Pet Detective actor exclaimed that there are a lot of people who come to New York wanting to try “New York-Style Pizza” but don’t know how to eat it. And thus she began her lesson to eat a Pizza, ‘New York Style’. There is a way to go about eating it, and it starts with a ‘dab’.
She said, “So the first way to do is to dab it. You get all the oil off.” We’ll need to find another resident to ascertain the veracity of this part. But the real shock was soon to come with her description of how to actually eat a Pizza. She continued, “And then authentic New Yorkers, they like to cut the tip off. And they just do a little bite at a time.”
That is totally believable indeed, Courtney…

Courtney Cox shares the ultimate New Yorker Pizza trick
The lesson had just begun though. She compared her style of eating with a person who is from Sicily, who would roll it and eat it like a pizza pie. The Scream 2 star would then discuss the second way people from New York eat pizza – a double cheese pizza. She said, “Sometimes people are craving like double cheese. So they push all the cheese in one area.” She would go on to give a demonstration, by pushing all the cheese toward the corner.
She then cut off the rest of the pizza and offered it to a stranger, who was more than happy to take it (who would say no to a pizza from Courtney Cox?). She continued,
“Only like people who come to a lot of pizza joints know that this is another way they sell it. But it is kind of, not on the menu. It’s special. You can finish it in three bites. That’s for a real New Yorker.”
That is just what she did in the video.

But a lot of people were baffled at this visual demonstration of how an “authentic New Yorker would eat pizza”. Twitterati couldn’t make peace with her demonstration. People wondered which New York she was from.
