The new TV spot for Thor: Love and Thunder reveal some fresh dialogue from Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale).
As we edge closer to the trailer release for the next Marvel Cinematic Universe film, everyone was quite focused on what Christian Bale would look like as a Marvel villain. Marvel fans got their first look recently and the actor looks really threatening.
New TV Spot For Thor: Love and Thunder Features Christian Bale’s Gorr
In the most recent spot, he states that “the world will be better without gods.” This dialogue lines up quite closely with Gorr’s story arc from the Marvel comics (Jason Aaron’s run). Love and Thunder seem to be following the same storyline with Gorr and The Mighty Thor and being the main players in the film. However, Marvel Studios is keeping enough footage from this movie close to the vest. Bale is already being teased as one of the best comic book villains ever before the release of Thor: Love and Thunder.
However, Gorr’s looks have garnered enough discussion recently. A few images of action figures also began circulating on social media, leaving the fans torn. Yes, we all agree that Bale is an iconic actor, but MCU’s design of the character isn’t very similar to the comics’ appearance. Recently, Jason Aaron himself had to acknowledge the comments in his newsletter. Even Aaron thought that MCU’s design choices were quite purposeful.

“We haven’t even gotten the first official look at the movie version of Gorr the God Butcher yet,” Aaron began. “I’ve seen some concerns online about Gorr’s design, based off glimpses of the character’s action figure. As the guy who co-created him, along with Esad, I’ll just say that it wasn’t Gorr’s nose (or lack thereof) that made him the tragic and deeply disturbed God Butcher that he was. Trust in the face of Christian Bale. Need I remind you, it’s a pretty goddamn talented face.”
Here’s the official synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:
“The film finds Thor on a journey, unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
