Tim Drake aka the third Robin has reclaimed the role in DC’s Infinite Frontier initiative! For a long time, fans have not been happy about DC’s decisions especially regarding Tim which caused him to go back and forth with his identity over these years.

But this progress could end up as waste!

Tim Drake had helped the second-longest duration as Robin. He first appeared as Robin in 1989’s Batman: A Lonely Place of Dying and held on to that mantle until 2006. Then, Tim became the hero Red Robin, striking out on his own. The New 52 era had brought many changes to Tim’s history and to fans’ disappointment, they completely erased his tenure as Robin.

He did return for a short time as “Drake” but things didn’t last long. As a result, the fans are elated to know that Infinite Frontier has brought him back to the forefront as Robin.

In the recent issues of Batman, Tim referred to himself as Red Robin and that surprised most of us. The very last time Tim had shown up was in Batman: Urban Legends and he wore his very modern Robin costume and are not only referred to as simply “Robin”, but even made sure to imply that he prefers it that way.

Thit itself is an extremely small but yet important distinction that shows who Tim is and what all he represents. His latest appearance is after DC’s confirmation which came that Tim is canonically bisexual, and it looks like even the writers are trying to figure out who Tim really is (in addition to Tim figuring the same himself.)

Tim’s journey of self-discovery and even his personal growth have been the centerpiece of the DC Rebirth era, and it looks like they are trying to fix up all the New 52’s mistakes. DC has made fun of Tim’s changing code names. And the reason could be the Batman story centered around the most recent Fear State arc.

The Infinite Frontier has brought some really great developments to DC’s characters and fans would be looking forward to seeing what it would mean for Robin in DC comics.
