The news was shared by Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games on Twitter, revealing that the delay was thanks to the fact that, “when [the team] set out to create a brand new game worthy of the Evil Dead franchise, we knew it had to be groovy as hell.” To further ensure they hit that goal, they felt the delay was needed “in order to deliver the best possible experience.”

“This delay gives our team the time they need to get things just right, so your boomstick will be polished, fully loaded, and ready to blast Deadites on that Friday the 13th of May,” Evil Dead: The Game’s Twitter account said. “We thank you for your patience and understanding.”

They also followed up the Tweet by stating that fans won’t really have to wait for “too long” for more exciting news on Evil Dead: The Game, and that the information on pre-order and an all-new trailer will be finally revealed in the month of February.

Evil Dead: The Game was earlier announced at The Game Awards 2020, featuring both co-op and PvP gameplay with the return of Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams.

During any match, many players will be needing to “seal the breach between worlds,” while some will “take control of the powerful Kandarian Demon to hunt Ash and his friends while possessing Deadites, the environment, and even the survivors themselves.”

Evil Dead: The Game will also be including a lot of fan service, which also includes the iconic cabin in the woods as a map with Ash’s signature chainsaw as a devastating weapon.

“I’m excited to be strapping on the chainsaw one more time,” said Campbell. “Boss Team and Saber Interactive are planning a huge immersive dealio, and I knew I had to come back. You’ll be able to step into my shoes and kick some Deadite ass!”
