With its Tyler Perry originals, BET is now looking forward to expanding, as Zatima gets the green light on BET+. The series will be a spin-off series of Sistas and will be a 10-episode hour-long series, coming from the Tyler Perry studios and will also see Crystal Renee Hayslett and Devale Ellis reprising their roles as Fatima and Zac, respectively.

The series, Zatima, will be following the two Sistas characters as they go ahead and skim through the ups and downs that their relationship has faced. Zatima will be the second spin-off from a series coming from Perry-linear BET series to get a green light by BET+, after Ruthless, which was an offshoot by The Oval. Tyler Perry is going to be the executive producer, director, and writer on the series, which started its production at the Tyler Perry Studios later this week and is now slated for a 2022 release on BET+.

This news regarding Zatima comes barely weeks before the third season finale of Sistas which will be airing on December 22.

A former regular at the NFL and then turned into an actor, Ellis joined the Sistas in 2019 as a regular. The actor will be seen next in The Perfect Find, alongside actor Gabrielle Union and will be recurring in AMC’s 61st Street. He also shot the lead role on Single Black Female, a show on Lifetime, and has also previously appeared on shows like NCIS and The Equaliser. His additional gallery of TV shows are Power, Gotham and It’s Bruno.

Initially introduced as Fatima in 2019, Hayslett appeared as a guest star and has since been a regular on the series, Sistas. Before she joined the cast, she worked as a costume designer on various films which include Boo! A Madea Halloween and then, its sequel, Too Close To Home, A Madea Family Reunion, and The Paynes. She also made her acting debut in the short film by Matthew Cherry, titled, ‘This Time’ in the year 2011.
