As Venom is inching closer to its release, fans are starting to get excited to finally see their favourite Spider-Man villain on big screen. The film stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom and is already being speculated to receive a record breaking opening at theaters in October.

This came through a new report by Box Office Pro that has estimated the film to open between $55 million and $85 million domestically. The website had previously numbered the film making $30 million to $50 million in its opening week.

If we go by this new report, it seems like Venom might break the box office record for the month of October which is currently held by 2014’s Gravity with a $55.8 million opening tilt. The analytics also revealed that the film is currently tracking at an impressive 91 percent Average Positive Interest.

The film has already impressed many fans due to its darker tone though it’s still uncertain if the film will be rated R by the Studio. Recently, Variety stated that Sony has plans for introducing more Spider-Man related characters. However, the report also reveals that the studio is planning to stick with the PG-13 rating as it hopes to bring in Spider-Man in the future.

Sony believes that there is ample potential for a crossover with MCU in the future but it still remains to be seen if Disney will be open Marvel’s collaboration with Sony. The report even states that the deal between the two companies indicate a Spider-Man trilogy by Marvel along with three crossover films, that will be completed after next year’s Avengers 4.

For now, we just have to wait for Venom as its success will have a major impact on the future of the Studios’ relationship.
Venom releases on October 5, 2019.
