WandaVision, streaming on Disney + is the first Marvel Studios series that continues to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Wanda Maximoff and Vision are two individuals with superpowers, who lead idealized suburban lives. But they begin to suspect that everything isn’t what it seems, and then comes Doctor Strange.
The Vision Synthroid died during Avengers Infinity War after Thanos pulled the mind gem out of his head. So he remains one of the great fallen of Phase 3 of the MCU. Imagine Wanda’s internal trauma: she has already lost her brother Pietro “Quicksilver” Maximoff during Avengers Age Of Ultron. After the end of Endgame (the period in which WandaVision is set), she finds herself alone. Without her love and the dream of a lifetime together broken forever.
The least that could happen is a psychological breakdown, and Scarlet, in the comics, has repeatedly proven to be quite emotionally fragile (we’ll get to that point). Except that Wanda’s powers are devastating (enough to stand up to Thanos for a brief moment). Still, the funny gags we see in the first episode suggest that she is not entirely in control.
It identified an Easter egg from the third episode of WandaVision that mentions the first Doctor Strange by Scott Derrickson. Part of the fun in the MCU is the inclusion of lots of easter eggs and references to other movies. Sometimes it’s just giveaways, while other times it’s all about clues and fast connections to other projects.
The debut on the Disney + streaming platform the third episode of WandaVision, the first series produced by Marvel Studios focusing on Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch ( Elizabeth Olsen ) and Vision ( Paul Bettany ), which includes a potential easter egg linked to another film from the MCU: Scott Derrickson’s first Doctor Strange.
In the third episode, while she is furnishing the room for her children, Wanda exclaims the phrase. “It’s like a flicker, “following which one of the children’s games turns into a flock of butterflies and one of these – specifically a monarch butterfly – lands on Vision’s nose :
As some may recall, there was the same type of butterfly in another Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. In which the Sorcerer Supreme, on his journey through the Multiverse as part of the introduction to the mystical arts, Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange comes across a monarch butterfly.
Simple coincidence, or is it a reference to the Sorcerer Supreme, considering that Wanda will have a role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Given that Wanda’s use of reality hasn’t been traveled much in the MCU. WandaVision shapes up to be the character’s canvas of testing with that power. The appearance of butterflies could hint that the hero is drawing into a different kind of magic.
